Cordion Code of Conduct

Building a safe and respectful community

Effective date:August 14, 2025
Cordion Logo

Cordion exists to help people form meaningful, real‑world connections based on proximity, trust, and respect. This Code of Conduct (also called Community Guidelines) explains the behavior we expect from everyone who uses Cordion, what we don't allow, how we handle reports, and what happens when rules are broken. We wrote it in clear language — no legalese — so it's easy to follow.

Our community values

Respect

Treat others as you'd like to be treated. Differences of opinion are okay — harassment is not.

Safety

Help keep Cordion a safe place for everyone, including students and minors.

Authenticity

Be real — avoid impersonation, fake profiles, and deceptive behavior.

Intentionality

Use the app for intentional, meaningful interactions rather than exploitation or spam.

Privacy

Respect others' location and personal information.

What we expect from you (Do)

  • Use your real identity or a consistent persona that does not impersonate others.
  • Follow local laws and this Code of Conduct.
  • Treat other users with courtesy and respect — no threats, harassment, or hateful conduct.
  • Respect other people's privacy. Do not share private messages, photos, or location details outside of Cordion without consent.
  • Use safety features such as Veil Mode, blocking, and reporting when you feel unsafe.
  • Keep content appropriate for the audience and follow age rules — no sexual or explicit content involving minors.
  • Report content or behavior that violates the rules through the in‑app report button or by emailing support@cordion.app.

Prohibited behaviour (Don't)

The following activities are strictly prohibited and may result in content removal, account restrictions, or permanent termination:

1. Harassment, threats, stalking, and intimidation

  • • Direct threats of violence or property harm.
  • • Persistent unwanted contact, including repeated location tracking attempts, unwanted Cross Paths targeting, or stalking behavior.
  • • Using location features to harass or intimidate someone.

2. Hate speech and extremist content

  • • Content that promotes hatred or violence against people based on protected characteristics (race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, etc.).
  • • Praise, support, or recruitment for extremist organizations.

3. Sexual exploitation, nudity, and minors

  • • Sexual content involving minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the authorities.
  • • Non-consensual sharing of sexual content (revenge porn) or explicit nudity without consent.

4. Impersonation, fraud, and scams

  • • Impersonating people, brands, or public figures to deceive others.
  • • Scamming users (including fake Cords sales, phishing links, or payment fraud).

5. Illegal activity and facilitating wrongdoing

  • • Sharing content that facilitates criminal activity (drugs, weapons, human trafficking, etc.).
  • • Buying, selling, or coordinating illegal goods or services.

6. Spam, inauthentic behaviour, and automated abuse

  • • Mass unsolicited messages or comments, fake engagement, or using bots without permission.
  • • Creating multiple accounts to evade bans or manipulate the platform.

7. Sharing private data and doxxing

  • • Sharing someone's private contact details, home/work addresses, or other personal information without explicit consent.

8. Misuse of location features

  • • Using precise or background location data to track, harass, or target a user without their explicit consent.
  • • Attempting to reverse‑engineer or extract other users' locations by combining features or reporting points.

Special rules for Circles, Cross Paths & Zones

Circles

Content and membership are private to circle members unless you choose to share it publicly. Don't add people to Circles for harassment or to spy on them.

Cross Paths

Cross Paths are intended to alert you to mutual, incidental proximity — not to enable stalking. Repeatedly seeking out a person after a Cross Path is a violation.

Zones

Moderators of Zones must follow these guidelines and may be held accountable for misuse of moderator privileges.

Reporting, moderation & enforcement

How to report

  • Use the in‑app Report button on profiles, posts, messages, or Cross Paths. Provide as much detail as possible (screenshots, timestamps, usernames).
  • For urgent safety concerns or criminal activity, contact local law enforcement and then report the incident to us at support@cordion.app. Include the report ID if you submitted an in‑app report.

What happens after you report

1. Acknowledgement

We'll confirm receipt of your report when possible.

2. Review

Our moderation team (and automated tools where appropriate) will review the report.

3. Action

We may remove content, warn the user, limit features, or suspend/terminate accounts depending on severity.

4. Appeal

If you disagree with an enforcement decision, follow the instructions in the enforcement notice to appeal.

Evidence and data handling

When you report someone, we may review relevant messages, location logs, and metadata. We process reports according to our Privacy Policy and only keep data needed to investigate and enforce rules.

Enforcement scale (examples)

Minor first-time violations

Warning and education, content removal, temporary limit on features (e.g., restrict posting for 24–72 hours).

Repeat or serious violations

Temporary suspension (7–30 days), permanent removal of content, loss of Cord balances where fraud is proven.

Severe violations

Permanent account termination and referral to law enforcement (threats, sexual exploitation, illegal activity).

Note: We may take emergency action (temporary restriction or permanent removal) without prior notice if there is an immediate safety risk.

Appeals process

If your content is removed or your account is suspended, you will receive an enforcement notice explaining why and how to appeal.

Submit appeals via the in‑app appeal form or email appeals@cordion.app with your account details and any evidence. We aim to review appeals promptly; complex cases may take longer.

Protecting your privacy when reporting

You can report anonymously in most cases. If identifying information is required to investigate, we'll let you know and explain why.

We will not disclose private reporter information to the person you reported except where required by law.

Safety tips for meeting in real life

If you decide to meet someone in person who you met on Cordion:

  • Meet in a public place and tell a friend where you're going.
  • Consider bringing a friend and keep your phone charged.
  • Use Veil Mode or limit location sharing until you're comfortable.
  • Trust your instincts — if something feels off, leave and report the user.

For parents and guardians

Cordion is intended for users aged 13 and up. If you are a parent or guardian concerned about your child's activity, contact us at support@cordion.app for help with parental controls, deletion requests, or safety resources.

Transparency & community input

We publish periodic transparency reports summarising enforcement actions and safety trends (without revealing private user data). Community feedback helps us improve — we welcome suggestions at support@cordion.app.

Changes to this Code of Conduct

We may update this Code of Conduct to improve clarity or safety. We'll notify users of material changes. Continued use after updates means you accept the new rules.
